Thanksgiving Break
After returning from a much-needed break, I would like to discuss and reflect on the opportunity I, and I hope many of you had, to go home and see our families. First, I hope anyone reading had a wonderful Thanksgiving that included lots of turkey, ham, or whatever meat your family cooked up for the holiday. I am always thankful to live close to home, so it is only a short 2-hour drive. College is great because I do like my freedom, but nothing beats hanging out with the family for a week over the holidays. It is also great because I get to see my brother who now lives in Nashville, Tennessee.
As I mentioned in a previous blog, we usually do a smoked turkey at our family Thanksgiving and this year was no different. The bird was excellent as well as the stuffing, sweet potato casserole, and mashed potatoes. My mom even made a homemade caramel cheesecake that sent me into a food coma thereafter. After my nap, we continued to watch the slate of NFL games that had been on throughout the day and continued to do so into the evening. What we were really excited for was the game on Saturday.
It is always a tradition of ours to watch the Ohio State vs Michigan game at our house with all our family there. It is something we enjoy watching even if we have left disappointed for the past three years. Unfortunately, this year was no different, with Ohio State losing as 21-point favorites and at home. We all stormed upstairs angry at what we had watched and took all of us a few hours to cool down. Although the game had not gone how we wanted, it is the memories of being there together every year that I will remember.

Wow, Will I love that you had smoked turkey for thanksgiving. I did as well.
ReplyDeleteYour thanksgiving sounds like a truly magical family experience will, hopefully Ohio state can win next year.
