Ada Tractor Pull

When I describe where I go to college, many people think we live in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do. This is partially true, but Ada has its own unique small-town college feel that is truly special. The village of Ada also hosts cool, unique events such as the "Harvest and Herb Festival" and the yearly truck and tractor pull. The festival was a fun time as my friends managed to purchase a golf bag and flower vase at the flea market. Although I did not buy anything, I was saying my excitement for the truck and tractor pull that was just down the road.

For years I have driven through Ada and seen the big yellow signs that point towards the truck and tractor pull, but never have I been. You can always hear the trucks do their pulls from just about any place in Ada. The scream of the modified V8 and diesel trucks rings throughout the small village of Ada, making their presence known. As we piled into my friend's car, our excitement was through the roof as most of us are already into cars and trucks. We pulled into the parking lot, and we immediately started spotting out the different trucks and tractors that would be doing pulls that night. As we started walking in, the playing of our nations anthem began to come over the loudspeaker and we all stopped to show our respect. After that, the action began as trucks started lining up in front of the sled.

Now I had been to drag racing events before so I knew how loud the cars would be, but at this event, you could sit right on the track. This caused your ears to be left ringing after every truck made a pull. I had never been to a truck pull before, so I did not know what the objective was or how to win, so I sat and slowly figured it out. As I kept watching I learned that as the truck or tractor pulls the sled down the dirt track, the weight shifts forward on the sled, wedging the front into the ground. We were able to see many different classes of trucks compete such as modified diesel, pro stock, and modified semi-truck. There were even local farmers from around the area that competed with their own farm tractors! Our favorite were the pro stock cars purely based on how loud they were. After a few hours of watching pulls, we headed home very pleased with our decision to come. This event happens yearly in Ada, and I cannot recommend enough coming out to support the event.

  1. I missed this one but I can only imagine the excitement of the truck and tractor pull in Ada. The way you describe the roar of the trucks and the thrill of being so close to the action makes it easy to imagine the event. It’s clear these unique local traditions give Ada its own special charm. Great recommendation to check it out!

  2. What you said about Ada is true. Most people think that it is a town with nothing to do but it is a special town. It is the people that make it what it is and the time spent with them is what makes Ada special.
