Blog Wrap-Up

As I mentioned in my blog yesterday, I have been on a semester long journey into the atmosphere of blogging. Of course, this was also a project as part of my social media class here at Ohio Northern, but it did not always feel that way. At first, I was nervous to about writing two weekly blogs as I typically do not like writing, but blogging was a more personalized way of writing which made it more enjoyable. Some weeks it did not even feel like it was part of a class, something would happen throughout the week, and I would think to myself, "I should really put that in my blog next week". Although it was only my classmates reading these, I tried to make it seem as if there were a larger audience than there really was. Throughout this blogging journey, I have learned many things such as the benefits of social media marketing across different platforms, and how to write and manage blog posts.

Throughout the semester I have learned how to market certain media over different social media platforms. I also learned the importance of reviewing the data to analyze what demographics, psychographics, and other factors play into deciding on a platform. In doing so, a social media manager can decide what platforms to place certain types of content. During this course, we also worked as a social media manager to be able to make these kinds of decisions in a simulation internship, as I discussed in a previous blog.

During this experience, I also learned how to write and format a blog post. I think during the semester the style I liked to take was more of a storytelling and personal approach to make them interesting to read. I also made sure to stagger my two posts on different days, to maximize reach. In doing so, I had to write early in the week, to be able to release them throughout the week, enhancing my preparation skills.

Overall, I enjoyed my blogging experience, although I do not know if I would do it again. I learned a lot about my skills while blogging, as well as enhanced my social media knowledge throughout the course. As of now, goodbye, and so long, Will Blogs is signing out.
