Halloween Approaches

The Fall is my personal favorite time of the year with the weather cooling down, football is in full swing, and the trees shift to a collage of orange, red, and brown. The Fall season also means one of my favorite holidays is coming up quickly. Obviously, by the name of this blog, you know I am talking about Halloween. I have always loved Halloween as it was a huge deal in my family as I was growing up. My brothers and I made it our goal to win our elementary school's costume contest. We were very successful in our bouts winning almost every year with costumes such as Brutus the Buckeye with a life-size paper mache head. Now of course most of the work that went into these costumes was my mother, and I am very thankful for that. Now that I am in college, Halloween still consists of dressing up, the only thing that changes is we no longer trick-or-treat and instead participate in other activities.

Although I no longer participate in walking around for hours asking for candy, I am still responsible for providing that experience for the next generation of kids. As a senior at Ohio Northern University and a new homeowner, my housemates and I have already prepared for Halloween with massive bags of candy. It did not even dwell on us until we saw the bags in-store that we must pass out candy this year. My only worry now is if the bag of candy will last us until Halloween, as we have been slowly depleting our own stash. If we wish to make it to Halloween, a trip to the store may be needed. As for my celebrations, I have already purchased a cougar hunter costume to go along with my girlfriend's cougar-themed outfit. Now, this has a little bit of a backstory as she has already graduated college and is a year and a half older than me, hence the 'cougar.' I will make sure to give an update in a couple of weeks on the success of this costume. I know it does not compare to Brutus the Buckeye, but when my mother is not involved, store-bought will have to do.

  2. It looks like you have a fun Halloween planned! The cougar hunter costume sounds hilarious. Ironically, I was considering the same thing with my girlfriend, who’s a grade older, but she wasn't a fan of the idea. I hope you and your housemates have a great time celebrating and creating some awesome memories this weekend!
