Bucket List Race: Import vs Domestic World Cup
Something I have never discussed on this blog is my passion for cars and racing, but that is going to change this week. Apart from the obvious sporting events going on this weekend such as college and professional football, hockey starting up, and the World Series, one of the biggest drag racing events of the year is also happening. Now many probably do not know what drag racing is but hopefully after this blog you will have a slightly better understanding. Drag racing started in the 1930s when racers first started modifying their hot rods to reach over 100 mph on the dry lakebeds of California and Nevada. It has evolved into a multi-billion-dollar sport that ranges from street cars built in backyards to thousand horsepower machines capable of reaching over 300 mph in under 4 seconds. Now the event I will be discussing today is the Import vs Domestic World Cup taking place in Maryland this weekend. It is the final event of the year so racers from over 10 countries bring their best car to try and get the win.
Someone I follow on YouTube named Garrett Mitchell, otherwise known as Cleetus McFarland, will be competing this weekend in Maryland. Garrett brings a fleet of three cars named Mullet; a modified El Camino, Leroy; a stick shift corvette with no body, and Eagle; a newly built race car capable of giving him his first ever 5 second quarter mile pass. Garrett posts videos, or vlogs, on his YouTube channel multiple times a week with updates on the building of his cars among other activities. This weekend, he will be competing in World Cup with two cars that have won their class in the past with Mullet and Leroy, but he is also bringing a car finished just a couple days ago called Eagle. Now Eagle is not your everyday drag car, boasting around 5,000 horsepower and capable of blowing the doors off Garretts previous fastest pass. This car was also the first to not be built in his own shop, instead being built by a third-party manufacturer that specializes in building high-end race cars. It is safe to say he is bringing the biggest and fastest fleet of race cars that World Cup has ever seen, and I cannot wait to watch.
Now I know many of you will not care much for drag racing and cars, but it is a big passion of mine that I am very enthusiastic about. If you would also like to tune in or learn more, you can visit Garrett's YouTube channel named Cleetus McFarland. This event is also being live streamed starting Wednesday, October 30th and continues throughout the weekend. I know I will be watching and cheering on Garrett from afar, but one day I hope to attend World Cup so I can check it off my bucket list.

This sounds like a exciting event! I have never really been much into racing or know much about it but it looks like something that would be interesting to check out.
