Podcast: Cole Zaferakis
On this week's blog we will discuss my podcast interview with former Ohio Northern Alum, teammate, and friend, Cole Zaferakis. Cole and I have known each other all three years I have been here as teammates and then as friends. He is an expert in public relations especially in the social media segment. He currently works for an exotic auto detail business as their social media expert. His job consists of making social media posts on the company's page to drive business inside. He also had the opportunity to work as an intern with Barstool Sports, in their podcasting and media department. Throughout these experiences he has learned a lot about the social media industry and has hopes to eventually get into long form production.
Cole and I also discussed the future of social media and what it might look like. He believes more companies will adapt to social media advertising and move away from traditional advertising on television. Throughout his experience, he has learned that short form social media advertising can be much cheaper and reach the same if not a larger audience. Traditional advertising includes spending millions on television commercials that may only reach 1-2 million people Cole said. He explained that companies will transition to paying influencers thousands of dollars to reach a similar if not greater audience.
Throughout this podcast, it was very interesting to hear an expert opinion on something I have used for most of my life. I also agree that the shift to social media and short form content is the future of digital advertising. We have already seen it with many companies today such as Lulu Lemon who has paid brand influencers, and I believe many more companies will shift to this in the next 5-10 years. In addition to learning more about social media advertising, it was also good to catch up with an ONU alum and a close friend. Included below will be the link to listen to the full episode!
